Chickpea dessert with nuts (according to Ayurveda)

Chickpea dessert with nuts (according to Ayurveda)

Ingredients:

  • 200 g of butter;
  • 200 g of chickpea flour;
  • 100 g of coconut blossom sugar or dates;
  • 2 spoons carob;
  • A handful of toasted walnuts or other nuts;
  • 1/2 tsp. cardamom;
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger powder;
  • 1/3 tsp. nutmeg;
  • Berry powder for rolling.

Preparing:

  • Melt the butter in a pot, add the chickpea flour and stir until the chickpea flour begins to brown and emit a nutty aroma (it will take about 15 - 20 minutes).
  • When the aroma of nuts spreads, add sugar, carob and spices, heat a little while stirring so that the mass is uniform and the sugar dissolves.
  • We add the nuts, mix well again and leave the whole mass to cool. Wait till we can form balls.
  • We form balls of the desired size and roll them in berry powder, coconut or chocolate chips.
  • We keep it in the refrigerator to harden for about 1 hour.
  • Store in the refrigerator.

We thank Ayurvedic nutrition practitioner Asta Gruode from Ayurvedic food culture for the recipe.
